The Keney Park Sustainability Project completed their first summer program with youth from the Summer Youth Employment Program. Youth received skills building training in the areas of gardening, landscaping, construction, marketing, cooking, gardening, basic life skills and event organizing.

Great American Clean-up-National Day of Actions
April 2013, Keep America Beautiful conducted its National Day of Action to support its Great American Cleanup. With the help and support of the Knox Parks Foundation, Keney Park was one of nine locations nationwide selected to participate as a Keep America Beautiful affiliates’ event.
Annual Stocking of the Pond
April 2013: The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection along with students from local area schools meet at the Keney Park Pond for the annual stocking of trout in preparation for opening day of the fishing season.
Old North Cemetery Walking Tour
May 2013: In addition to touring the Old North Cemetery and the Isham-Terry House, the Keney Clock Tower was a featured stop on the Old North Walking tour. The guests had the opportunity to walk to the top of the tower.
Our Piece of the Pie hosted their summer program with summer youth employment participants. The participants completed numerous environmental lessons as well as multiple projects in and around the Keney Park House. OPP and the SYEP participants constructed five kiosk and 56 signs for the new trail system.
KPSP Youth participated in trail maintenance and construction. Youth also assisted multiple community organizations and local businesses with trail volunteer projects.
KPSP Youth participated in organizing and vending at the North End Farmers market. KPSP youth helped plan, organize and facilitated the 28th annual Keney Park Family Day Festival.
Trinity Interns completed the Keney Park Trails teachers guide and power point presentation. Trinity interns also created Instagram, Facebook, drop box and other social media accounts to add to the FOKP website. Trinity intern and photography student created a photo documentary showing the development and implementation of projects to enhance Keney Park.
KNOX parks, Wickam Park Disc Golf and FOKP initiated the installation of the Keney Park Disc Golf course. The course design has been modified to complement the trail system and materials have been purchased.
REI employees and Naval officers from the USS Hartford completed volunteer projects to restore significant portions of the Keney Park Trail system
DEEP, The Girl Scouts, KPSP, OPP and SYEP Youth hosted a visit from the Mayor, City Council and the media at the Keney Park House. Visitors spoke with participants, took a tour of the garden and enjoyed fresh picked vegetables.
Hands on Hartford organized multiple volunteer projects in Keney Park. Volunteers included Trinity College Women’s Crew team, Jet Blue, Suffield Christian Church, the First Church of Vernon Youth Group.
Former Intern and UCONN Graduate Tanner Burgdorf was hired as a Landscape Architect to design enhancements for the Keney Park Trails and Coordinate Adventure activities to promote the Opening of the Keney Park Trail System
